Product details

There are people who say that one must be able to forget. How can one forget their children and husband? Could you do that? Rose Grumelin asked journalist Günther Schwarberg in an interview about her children Eleonora and Roman. Both were brutally murdered on April 20, 1945, along with 18 other Jewish boys and girls in the basement of a school in Hamburg. The children - the youngest being five and the oldest twelve years old - had been subjected to pseudoscientific experiments by concentration camp doctor Kurt Heissmeyer for months, infected with tuberculosis, and had their lymph nodes surgically removed. Shortly before the end of the war, SS-Obersturmbannführer Arnold Strippel received a telegram ordering the dissolution of Heissmeyer's department, which meant nothing less than initiating the murder of the children and destroying all evidence. Günther Schwarberg tells the tragic story of the children from Bullenhu.
