Scotland is a true paradise for hikers, especially for those who love remote, rugged landscapes, long hikes, and wild mountains. However, for those who prefer more accessible and shorter trails, the northern part of Great Britain offers exciting diversity. The author has selected four regions for her book (each with five to seven trails) that provide an overview of the different types of landscapes and include important highlights. All areas are located in the Highlands, with two in the national parks of Loch Lomond and Trossachs as well as Cairngorms, and two in the west of the country, Lochaber and Wester Ross. While the focus is clearly on the experience of nature, readers will also learn a lot about the cultural and historical aspects of the country. The aim of this hiking book is not only to present well-known hikes but also to guide hikers onto less frequented paths.
