Janos Dragoman is an adventurer, a romantic. However, Kandor, the setting of our story, becomes a trap for him. The traveler is halted, coincidences turn into pitfalls. He could leave everything behind: friends, lovers, success, and support. Yet he clings to Olga, this coincidence that turns out to be his daughter and becomes pregnant; here, the desire for continuity manifests itself. Finally, there is someone he is connected to by blood, someone he belongs to. The novel is also a modern Don Juan story; on one hand, it is a reminiscence of old love affairs and the avoidance of rekindling them. For Dragoman prefers to notice another woman out of the corner of his eye, and without him being aware of it, she, Sandra, becomes the driving force.
