This brochure is intended to be a practical aid and learning resource for everyone involved in planning, tendering, or constructing concrete road surfaces, including in the municipal sector. An explanation of the existing and currently revised regulations from the Research Society for Road and Transportation (FGSV) is a key component of this new edition. The concrete construction method has proven itself equally effective across all types of traffic surfaces, whether on federal highways or municipal traffic areas such as bypasses, roundabouts, intersection zones, or urban streets and squares. In particular, the use of concrete construction in municipal road construction has been steadily increasing for years. This is primarily due to the fact that concrete construction offers exceptional durability, especially against high traffic loads. Considering these characteristics, concrete construction emerges as an economical and resource-efficient building method, making it sustainable for the future. This brochure particularly elaborates and discusses topics related to dimensioning, whether through the RStO or the RDO, the updated requirements for material composition, the production and installation of concrete, the newly structured testing procedures, the planning and execution of concrete surfaces outside of highways, and the regulations regarding materials and preservation methods.
