Product details

Ship participations are entrepreneurial investments that first appeared in the 14th century. Until that time, shipowners had to bear the risks of piracy or the sinking of their ships on their own. To avoid this, investments were made with multiple shipowners as well as private investors in several ships to minimize personal risk as much as possible. The investors who engaged with the shipowners at that time could sustainably participate in the economic success. Not much has changed to this day; however, investors are now involved as limited liability co-entrepreneurs in a GmbH & Co. KG instead of an ancient partnership shipping company. A GmbH & Co. KG is a limited partnership where at least one GmbH must assume full liability, and the investors are only liable up to their capital contribution.
