CAD technologies have now become an integral part of the design, construction, and management of road traffic facilities. In the emerging era of Building Information Modeling (BIM), expertise in these programs has become an essential foundation and platform for all parties involved in the process. The need for a complete revision and supplementation arose from the innovations and extensions implemented in CARD/1. Furthermore, the guidelines for the planning process and for the uniform design of planning documents in road construction, edition 2012 (RE 2012), fundamentally influence the creation of planning documents, leading to a need for updates in this area as well. The existing focal points have been significantly deepened in the 3rd edition and now include 3D project visualization, managing regulations, spatial alignment, and dimensioning of roads.
