Inspired by a random observation, we have been researching various forms and symptoms of hysteria for several years to uncover the cause and the process that first triggered the phenomenon in question, often many years ago. In the vast majority of cases, it is not possible to clarify this starting point through a simple, albeit thorough, medical examination, partly because the experiences often involve topics that are uncomfortable for the patient to discuss, but mainly because they genuinely do not remember, often not even suspecting the causal connection between the triggering event and the pathological phenomenon. Most of the time, it is necessary to hypnotize the patients and, in hypnosis, to evoke the memories from the time when the symptom first appeared; this allows us to clearly establish that connection.
