Inspired by a random observation, we have been researching various forms and symptoms of hysteria for several years to uncover the cause and the process that first triggered the phenomenon in question, often many years ago. In the vast majority of cases, it is not possible to clearly identify this starting point through a simple, albeit thorough, medical examination. This is partly because the experiences often involve topics that are uncomfortable for the patients to discuss, but mainly because they truly do not remember, often failing to grasp the causal relationship between the triggering event and the pathological phenomenon. Most of the time, it is necessary to hypnotize the patients and, in hypnosis, to evoke the memories from the time when the symptom first appeared; only then can the connection be made clear.
