Applied theology emphasizes what is vehemently demanded in higher education policy debates: the curricular integration of internships and practice-oriented study projects. Theological teaching and learning processes can sustainably benefit from the local and perspective shifts associated with practical phases, particularly in relation to the career fields pursued by students in schools and pastoral care. This requires not only pedagogical skill in linking theory and practice but also intensive dialogues about changing student generations and the upheavals in pastoral and religious education fields and professions. This volume documents the outcomes and forward-looking perspectives of such a workshop on practice-based learning at the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia.
