For children and adolescents whose parents are affected by addiction, there is a high risk of developing an addiction or other mental disorders later in life. To reduce this risk, preventive support measures must be offered as early as possible. This work aims to capture the living environment of a family affected by addiction in detail. A particular focus is placed on the influence of parental illness. Risk and protective factors are identified that should be mitigated or promoted through appropriate support services. This is intended to support the positive development of children of addicted parents. Based on the analytically derived insights, the development of a model concept for an appropriate support service in the outpatient sector of social work is presented.
