Tibet, the land of a thousand valleys, entices with its unique landscape and the exotic way of life full of color and sensory experience. On the border with Nepal lies Chomolungma, or Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world at 8,850 meters. Mighty mountain ranges have long made Tibet one of the most inaccessible countries on Earth, and a journey to the land of snow is still considered one of the last adventures on the planet. Only a few explorers, conquerors, and adventurers from the Western Hemisphere have had the privilege of entering that part of the roof of the world that belongs to Tibet. Consequently, there have been numerous speculations. Even Herodotus and Ptolemy suspected the existence of an Amazon kingdom or gold-digging ants in the Himalayas. Marco Polo also reported on the legendary land of Thebeth, despite never having been there. Even today, this land, with its revered sacred sites, exudes a special fascination.
