In a time when the right measure seems to be lost, we turn back to the monasteries and try to get a little closer to the lost paradise in the silence of the abbeys. We are rediscovering the monastery kitchen and enjoying good, simple, and healthy dishes, whose recipes are based on the seasonal offerings of nature and a sensible moderation in eating and drinking. For her cookbook, photographed by Abbot Berthold Heigl, Irmi Hofmann was not only allowed to look behind the scenes of the Seitenstetten monastery kitchen but also to participate in monastic life. This resulted in an authentic, practical work that offers numerous suggestions and decoration ideas alongside recipes adapted for small family kitchens.
