The Wittgenstein student Elizabeth Anscombe is considered one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century. With her monograph "Intention," she established analytical action theory, and many of her essays are regarded as classics, but only a few have been translated into German so far. The present volume fills this gap: it brings together twelve of Anscombe's most important essays, thematically ranging from practical philosophy to metaphysics and the philosophy of mind, as well as interpretations of Aristotle and Wittgenstein, thus representing the full spectrum of her thought. The notes and explanations by the editors, along with the afterword by Anselm W. Müller, elucidate the texts and provide additional insights into the multifaceted work of this solitary thinker.
