Chuzpe is a sparkling novel about fathers and daughters, Polish cuisine, and New York neuroses; a story of serious confusions and comical entanglements. Ruth cannot comprehend that her father Edek is far from spending a peaceful retirement. Instead, the lively eighty-year-old begins an affair with the (much too young, as Ruth thinks) Pole Zofia. When Edek, along with Zofia and her friend Valentina, also wants to open a restaurant in the Lower East Side specializing in Polish meatballs, Ruth worries equally about her inheritance and her nerves.
