Complete Works and Legacy-Critical Complete Edition (Vol. 13.1, 13.2): Critiques and reviews
German, Walter Benjamin, 2011Only 1 piece in stock at third-party supplier
Product details
Since the 1970s, Walter Benjamin has been regarded as a classic of literary criticism, with many of his reviews having become canonical. Recently, however, more than 200 printed pages of handwritten notes and records have been discovered, including drafts of reviews of works by Bertolt Brecht, Anna Seghers, Max Kommerell, Alfred Polgar, and Dolf Sternberger. These will be published for the first time as part of the "Critical Complete Edition," complementing the well-known works that are also presented for the first time without normalizing interventions and taking into account all textual witnesses and variants. Along with the facts about Benjamin's working environment, his contacts, and sources revealed in the commentary, this edition offers a completely new insight into the critic's workshop and a meticulous reconstruction of his working process.
