Kutschmann's work looks beyond the fascination of science: it questions the impact of scientific dynamics on the bearer of this development, on humanity. It aims for a critical reconstruction of the history of the natural sciences from the perspective of the body. In relation to the body, three central themes emerge from this: the anthropological critique of the body, the concept of a desanthropomorphized nature or a bodiless understanding of nature, and the self-interpretation of nature in experiments. Guided by these three thematic focuses, the history of early modern natural sciences can indeed be understood as a coherent development of shedding the anthropological prerequisites of corporeality.
