Product details

In recent years, a turnaround in philosophy has emerged. Since Kant, it has been taken for granted that we must primarily examine our access to things, as we cannot recognize things in themselves for principled reasons. Although almost no one has followed Kant in detail, the impression had settled that philosophy was about language, signs, and recognition, rather than about that which such systems are directed towards. The present volume documents a shift that has become known as new realism, which consists of abandoning the Kantian assumption without reverting to naive realism. Contributions include works by Jocelyn Benoist, Paul Boghossian, Umberto Eco, Quentin Meillassoux, Hilary Putnam, and John Searle.
