Ernst Wiechert, born on May 18, 1887, in the forester's lodge Kleinort in the Sensburg district (East Prussia), died on August 24, 1950, in Uetikon by Lake Zurich. Wiechert studied in Königsberg and was a teacher there. He participated as an officer in World War I. In 1930, he moved to Berlin. From 1933, he lived as a freelance writer in Ambach in Upper Bavaria. In 1948, he emigrated to Switzerland. Some of his most well-known works include: The Maid of Jürgen Doskocil (1932), The Simple Life (1939), The Jeromin Children (1945/1947), and Missa sine nomine (1950).
