In this work, which is part of a series alongside his Summa Technologiae (1976) and Phantastik und Futurologie (1977), Stanisław Lem undertakes a reimagining of the Socratic dialogues at a time when the traditional themes of philosophy, theology, and social theory, especially under the influence of cybernetics, are experiencing a new representation. These dialogues aim to explore and evaluate the future consequences that the ongoing advancement of computer technology will bring – from the potentially possible eternal life of the individual to the construction of new social formations.
