One day, a young woman stands at the door of a composer in Munich, Judit from Budapest. She wants to refine her cello playing and believes in the high ideals of art. The composer, on the other hand, earns his living with theme tunes for television series and is struggling with the project of an opera about Mandelstam on the side. However, Judit's erratic nature increasingly makes it impossible for him to work in a structured manner; and her not-so-small family, which soon follows her, brings the composer to the brink of a nervous breakdown. Even the women around him, who seek to rescue him, cannot help him find the art he seeks in life, nor the life he cannot find in art. In the end, the opera is still not written; only the television melodies are now being broadcast in Eastern countries as well.
