Product details

The studies included in the consideration of the Other connect the interest in the question of what consequences arise today from the universalist content of republican principles. In the first part, Habermas defends the rational content of a morality of equal respect for everyone and the general solidarity responsibility of one for the other. The second part contains a discussion with John Rawls, where Habermas aims, among other things, to clarify the differences between political liberalism and a Kantian republicanism. The third part seeks to clarify the controversy surrounding the future of the nation-state, which has resurfaced in the Federal Republic since reunification. The fourth part deals with the enforcement of human rights at both global and domestic levels, reflecting Kant's conception of the world citizen.
