In her childhood home in a small town in New Jersey, Tess plans to celebrate her wedding. Very modestly, very familiarly, without white satin, in a simple, tailored dark blue cocktail dress. Helen, her mother, becomes extremely agitated when she thinks about the guests: the Black relatives of the groom, feuding ex-wives, jealous mistresses, screaming babies – and far too many psychiatrists. But the surprise guest is not on the list: a young woman in a white satin wedding dress, complete with a veil. She is wearing a gas mask and is armed. While mother Helen keeps her composure and makes contact with the hostage-taker, the tension among the other guests rises. Am I the target? And they begin to confess their life stories, in which the unknown woman holding them at bay may have played a role.
