"Give AIDS no chance" - almost every German over thirty knows the slogan of this campaign launched in 1987 by the Federal Center for Health Education. "Truvada" is the miracle drug that is now supposed to fulfill this demand. The capsule, which has been prescribed to HIV-infected individuals for therapeutic purposes for some time, is now also used for prophylaxis. What the majority of Germans do not know are the pain and isolation that many people had to endure before the awareness and prevention work, as well as the development of effective medications. Through numerous encounters with those affected and eyewitnesses, Martin Reichert tells the story of these individuals, such as homosexual men who, isolated from society, had to cope alone with the loss of their partners: disinherited by their families in the Palatinate, uninvited to the funeral.
