Product details

Alejo Carpentier was a pioneer and master of modern narrative prose in Latin America. In his novels, he captured the grand stories of his continent. He depicted nearly everything that defines Latin America. In the preface to his novel "The Kingdom of This World," "one of the most perfect novels written in Spanish in the 20th century," Carpentier articulates the concept of the "marvelously real," a fundamental idea of "magical realism" that became influential for all of Latin American literature. This volume gathers the most significant novels of the great Cuban novelist. It includes the novels: The Kingdom of This World, The Lost Traces, The Chase, Explosion in the Cathedral, The Method of Power, Baroque Concerto, Le Sacre du printemps, The Harp and the Shadow.
