Dissident Participation follows the course that academically established feminism has taken since the early 1970s. Situated at the intersections of science sociology, higher education research, sociological discourse analysis, and feminist theory, the book questions both the feminist turn in science and the academic turn in feminism. It analyzes the contradictory processes of the academic consolidation and stabilization of feminist knowledge, its production as well as its transformation into an academically intelligible endeavor within the context of the powerful microstructures of normal science and the current transformations of universities and science. These analyses are guided by the thesis that participation is the precarious prerequisite for change. This condition is the possibility of feminist knowledge.
