Product details

The K. family's house has survived the German occupation and remained unscathed by bombs, but after the war, it must be shared with a proletarian couple. The old K., a failed artist, finds himself surrounded by miners, stripped of his life chances in dirt, stench, and neglect, and he vents his frustration on his son, the little bastard - until the son strikes back. "Little Bastard" tells of dramatic turns in German and Polish history in the 20th century, whose violence continues to echo in the lives of the K. family. With this anti-biography, a pitch-black variant of the coming-of-age novel, the young author, much like Thomas Bernhard once did, has struck at the heart of a sacred institution in his society. "Little Bastard" has already become part of the canon of contemporary Polish literature.
