It can be described as an intellectual misfortune that Shaw's interpretation of the Nibelungen Tetralogy has so far gone unnoticed by both Wagnerians and Wagner opponents. Presumably, the more obscuring than enlightening Wagner discussion could have been avoided if Shaw's analyses had reached the German consciousness in a timely manner. Joachim Kaiser.
