"Fasching" tells the story of Felix Golub, who deserts from the German Wehrmacht and survives the time until liberation disguised as a maid in a small Austrian town. At the end of the war, Felix Golub saves the town from a final defensive battle, thereby rescuing it from senseless destruction. The commander of the last resort has fallen in love with the supposedly innocent maid and wants to seduce her. To avoid being discovered and executed as a deserter at the last moment, Golub initially goes along with the commander's advances until he has the opportunity to disarm him and force him to surrender. The fact that they are indebted to a coward in women's clothing becomes the reason for the residents' painfully suppressed and ultimately violently erupting aggressions.
