The number of well-paid surgeries is steadily increasing, while departments that are not profitable are being closed, regardless of demand. No other country in the world has more hospital beds owned by private clinic corporations. The healthcare system is evolving into a health economy, and currently, no other industry yields higher returns. What is behind this? This book is a plea for a path towards a healing art that sees patients as human beings rather than "customers," does not sell health as a commodity, and prioritizes medical care.
