Product details

Intuitively, one quickly pins the semantic badge of "highly intelligent" on friends or colleagues. Intelligence is considered one of the cardinal virtues of the present, alongside flexibility and teamwork. However, when the subjectively plausible finding is to be objectified, one encounters strange geometric figures, number sequences, and lists of animals, one of which supposedly does not belong with the others. In his essay, Hans Magnus Enzensberger examines the history and pitfalls of the methods that psychologists have used since the early 20th century to measure intelligence. He concludes: "We are simply not intelligent enough to know what intelligence is.".
