This is the original version of the Lulu tragedy, completed in 1894. It consists of five acts that were later revised multiple times due to censorship and other reasons, and were divided into the two plays "Earth Spirit" and "The Box of Pandora." The text was published for the first time in 1988 in connection with the world premiere by Peter Zadek at the German Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. "A sleepwalker of love, who only 'falls' when called upon, an eternal loser - of whom a philosophical rogue in the drama says: 'She cannot live from love, because her life is love.' That the source of joy in this narrow world must become the Pandora's box: this infinite regret seems to me to stem from poetry," said and wrote Karl Kraus in 1905 about the world premiere of the second part, which he organized in a unique, closed performance in Vienna.
