Organization is the creation and maintenance of order. However, this order cannot be imagined without the continuous resolution of disturbances and—more importantly—without their anticipation in the routine processes of the organization. If the organization of an authority, a hospital, a school, or a company is not disturbed from the outside, it must therefore disturb itself to be prepared for all eventualities. In this volume, Dirk Baecker demonstrates, among other things, what follows from this consideration: that leadership and management are nothing other than the orderly disturbance of an organization.
