What is just or unjust in the true sense? Is it distributing individuals or institutions, abstract distribution theories, procedures, results, or states? In the history of justice theory, extremely different views have been represented on this matter. Even more varied are the respective theories of what justice itself could be. Not all important aspects are adequately considered in contemporary debate. This (lost) diversity of aspects is illustrated by the volume that compiles and presents the significant and historically important texts on the theory of justice from antiquity to the present.
