Recently, there has been debate about human rights not only politically but also philosophically. This volume aims to contribute to this discussion with conceptual clarifications. It first addresses the question of whether human rights should be understood morally or legally, as well as the question of their justification and scope. Depending on the moral coverage of human rights, the claims of social and international justice and the tensions between democracy, the rule of law, and human rights are weighted differently.
