Strategies in politics that are narrowed down to economic benefits also affect philosophy and call it into question. Questions like "Philosophy, for what purpose?" or "Philosophy, why?" are once again permissible. What philosophy is and what it can do must be addressed today in the plurality of theoretical and practical positions. It concerns the proximity and distance of philosophy to the sciences, its role in guiding society, law, and the state, and the significance of the history of philosophy - from a European perspective, but not a Eurocentric one. The result is a book that competently and concisely covers the entire spectrum of philosophy: an introduction to a whole field and at the same time an assessment of its enormous possibilities - for science and politics, analysis and diagnosis, theory and practice.
