In international law, there is an explosive increase in independent, globally operating courts. Research reveals an impressive number of 125 international judicial institutions that claim final authority over global conflicts. From a social theoretical and international legal perspective, the authors explore how to explain the regime collisions triggered by the chaotic coexistence of global norm complexes and conflict resolution mechanisms, and how to address them in politics and law.
