Sanssouci
German, Andreas Maier, 2010Product details
On a hot summer day, the fatally injured director Max Hornung is buried at the Frankfurt Main Cemetery. After moving from Frankfurt am Main, he lived in Potsdam. Among the mourners who traveled from there are Merle Johansson, a shady beauty with her little son Jesus, the willful and neglected twins Heike and Arnold, and a few television people. Alexej, a Russian-German and novice of a Russian Orthodox monastery, has come from Munich. What did they all have to do with Hornung? Besides the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sanssouci, Potsdam has many squares and pubs, as well as a hidden underbelly, which is to be taken literally: beneath the Sanssouci Park lies a tunnel system with numerous rooms. Some of these appear to have been used for un-Christian rituals and BDSM sessions. Young people who hang around there play tricks.
