The diaries of the writer and philosopher Günther Anders (1902-1992) are among the most significant literary journals of the 20th century. His numerous notes, spanning decades and never compiled into a cohesive work by himself, are quoted in fragments in various books of his (including his main work, "The Obsolescence of Man"). Here, for the first time, they are chronologically arranged and compiled in an exemplary selection. Anders, who throughout his life postponed his own literary projects and became internationally known as a warning voice against a new atomic catastrophe, has uniquely captured the experiences of flight, exile in the United States, return to post-war Europe, and his impressions from visits to sites of horror such as Auschwitz and Hiroshima.
