Compromise is an essential tool of politics and, in itself, a beautiful and commendable thing, especially when it comes to war and peace. However, there are also moral limits to compromises. When these limits are violated, the compromise itself becomes compromised; it is rotten, it "stinks," and contaminates the peace it may have established.
