Capitalism has disrupted this hierarchy. Few things are feared by the innovation-driven economy as much as aging, while youth has become a symbol of perpetual progress. However, the price for this ongoing renewal is high. In the bleak suburbs, boys grow up who will remain young forever, while girls must take on responsibilities from a young age. Alain Badiou's attempt to corrupt youth is a manifesto against capitalist historical amnesia, a plea for a life beyond thoughtless consumerism, and a compass for all those living in our eternally youthful society.
