Jimmy Sarano is the author of an endless feuilleton titled "The Adventures of Louis XVII," which a radio station broadcasts into the void. He lives in a nameless city by the Mediterranean, shaped by the rhythm of the muezzin's calls and the cacophony of languages spoken by its inhabitants. One day, when he spots a young woman in a café, a childhood memory begins to surface in his mind. Suddenly, he is haunted once again by this emptiness, "like other people are by malaria attacks," and before him, his former life seems to unfold; a repressed identity he had to break free from long ago. Back then, he was still called Jean Moreno and lived in Paris. At that time, he did not write stories for local radio; he was one of the Parisian intellectuals. In numerous loops of memory, Jean must confront his past.
