Piaget surveys the classical philosophical problems such as metaphysics, ethics, logic, psychology, and epistemology. He sees the attempt to reach a consensus as a characteristic of all scientific knowledge. He believes that, with the exception of metaphysics, all philosophical inquiries into problems that can be defined tend to differentiate into forms that increasingly resemble scientific research, thus leaning towards a possible consensus.
