Wir sind alle Kannibalen
German, Claude Levi Strauss, 2017Product details
From 1989 to 2000, Claude Lévi-Strauss wrote articles for the newspaper La Repubblica, in which he commented on events and trends in modern society. He addresses topics such as population growth, factory farming, and organ transplantation, while reflecting on the thoughts of Montaigne and Comte. In the titular essay "We Are All Cannibals," he compares mad cow disease with the illness Kuru, which spread like an epidemic in Papua New Guinea at the beginning of the last century due to a form of cannibalism. Together with his legendary essay "The Tortured Santa Claus," these thematically diverse texts are published for the first time in a single volume.
