Suicidal behaviour and relationships
German, Soheila Pourshirazi, 2008Product details
Suicidality is a phenomenon influenced by relationships and, in turn, impacts those relationships. In her examination of the controversial suicide forums on the internet, Soheila Pourshirazi explores how the issues of suicidal relationships are expressed there. Utilizing a psychoanalytically oriented text hermeneutics, she traces central relational dynamics within the forums, the understanding of which not only expands the clinical-psychoanalytic discourse but also allows for a reassessment of the suicide forums. The current psychoanalytic debate surrounding new intersubjective approaches is critically reflected upon against the backdrop of a dialogical philosophical discourse about the Other.
