Photography is a peculiar medium - both strong and weak at the same time. It is strong in documenting our everyday reality. Yet it is weak, as it only captures the silent surface of our world. It shows only the appearance, not the essence of things. This is a matter of interpretation and lies in the eye of the beholder. To compensate for this weakness, photographs are usually presented in a clear context and often with explanatory captions. "Superficial Images" are also documents of our everyday reality combined with seemingly explanatory titles. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes evident that the photographs here are just as questionable as the captions.
