Understanding listening and speaking not as derivatives of the written word, but as independent forms deserving of their own recognition - this has been the special concern of supposé from the very beginning. With "A Summer That Remains," we take a significant step further along this path: In long conversation sessions, supposé operator Klaus Sander and writer Peter Kurzeck have applied the production method of free narration, which has largely been developed with scientists and philosophers, to literature. The result is a novel that exists solely in acoustic form. Comparable to the improvised performance art of the legendary black blues singers he heard in Hessian army clubs in the 1960s, Peter Kurzeck transitions from conversation to storytelling, thus discovering a new form of the novel: a text that emerges only during the act of speaking.
