After the great success of the illustrated book "Schloss Augustusburg und Park," journalist, local historian, and collector Hans Rothkamp now invites you to stroll through the businesses and shops of Old Brühl. From his extensive collection, particularly of photographs by Brühl photographer Freddy Neff, he has selected the most interesting and vibrant images. They recall the Brühl mine, the brickworks, the Cologne ironworks, and the Rankewerk. The numerous local establishments and restaurants, such as Jägerhof, Pingsdorfer Hof, Zur Post, Fritz Waffenschmidt's record bar, the Eternal Lamp, the Town Hall Tavern, and the milk bar, were and still are meeting places for young and old alike. The liquid refreshments were supplied by the grain distillery and liqueur factory of Adolf Krauss and Friedrich Giesler's brewery. For shopping, one would go to one of the department stores, to the textile house Kamphausen, or to Jakob.
