Bad Salzdetfurth in the northern Harz foothills has always been shaped by salt. The work in the saltworks and salt mining defined the lives of the residents. In the mid-19th century, the healing brine began to be utilized. The town developed into a spa resort, while still remaining a site for salt production and extraction. The historical photographs in the illustrated book recall the development of the town from 1890 to 1970.
