The Thirty Years' War threatens the Erfurt woad trade. Only Florian and Caterina Seber prove to be skilled merchants of the traditional dye – much to the envy of their guild brothers. Then Florian does not return from a trading journey, and Caterina faces the difficult task of continuing the trade against the guild's opposition. She must defy the woad regulations, regardless of the consequences it may have for her.
