Product details

Nestled in the hilly landscape at the northern edge of the Thuringian Slate Mountains lies the Orlatal. Originating as a small stream near Braunsdorf, the Orla flows through charming forests and fertile meadows, picturesque villages, and culturally and historically interesting places such as Triptis, Neustadt, and Oppurg. After about 35 kilometers, it merges with the Saale at Orlamünde, collecting numerous small tributaries along the way. Stefan Dornheim, born and raised in Rehmen, is a profound expert on the history of the Orlatal. For this book, he has selected around 230 interesting, mostly unpublished photos from the city archives of Triptis, Neustadt, and Pössneck, as well as from numerous collections of local chroniclers and regional researchers. Knowledgeably documented, these images take the reader on a journey through time between 1860 and 1960. The pictures not only showcase the places and sights along the Orla.
